At first, we assumed some of our suppliers simply had poor stock management when delivery problems occurred. But now a third supplier has informed us that we will not receive any briar pipes for the next three months because their briar stocks are depleted. The briar available on the market was too small, too expensive, and of insufficient quality. Eventually, one supplier managed to secure a usable batch, but the wood must first undergo proper air-drying — a process that takes several months.
So what to do with three months without briar? We decided to switch the material. In the past, we occasionally offered olive wood pipes — initially with Meerschaum inlays and later also as pure olive wood pipes. And for the record: the rumour that olive wood bowls burn through quickly is not true; we have never experienced an increased rate of burnout in any of our olive wood series.
And so, without further ado: here it is — quite possibly the most elegant olive wood series pipe ever made. Available in smooth and brushed finishes, each with a tasteful metal application in classic spigot style.
