Charles Rattray’s, the legendary tobacco blender from Perth on the River Tay, has left us with numerous world-renowned recipes that are still produced today in the traditional way and by hand in the halls of Kopp Tobaccos. Less well known, however, were his pipes, which he had branded with his own name. These were simple yet timeless pieces of English manufacture, already offered through international mail order nearly a hundred years ago.

Oliver Kopp continued this tradition. He brought the collection into the modern age and further developed existing series. In addition, numerous new shapes, mouthpieces, colors, and applications were introduced. Rattray’s, like hardly any other brand, represents a successful balance between classic and modern. Despite its long history, the brand remains young and fresh.

After just 15 years, Rattray’s pipes were already available in over 180 models. Many of these specialties have since achieved classic status. Today, Rattray’s pipes are firmly established in the international pipe world.

In 2010, the Offenbach-based company introduced the first “Rattray’s 2.0” series in the form of the three lines Old Gowrie, Marlin, and Highland. Six classic filter pipes with model numbers 1–6, and six non-filter pipes with numbers 7–12.

After several years of briar shortages and the unavailability of these models, the time had come to reintroduce them. The bowls are now made from sandblasted South American ash, fitted with a fire-resistant and taste-neutral graphite insert.

The color palette takes inspiration from the plumage of the pheasant, one of the most characteristic inhabitants of the Scottish moorlands. A wonderful concept for hunters, collectors, and lovers of nature.
